Philadelphians have 200,000 reasons to invest in public education but the school district responsible for their education has been long plagued by underfunding, outdated facilities, crumbling buildings, lack of modern books and instructional materials, teacher shortages, and far too few academic and mental health counselors. The School District of Philadelphia needs more resources and ability to better use current resources to give students every opportunity for success and happiness.

Unlike school boards that are elected by the public, the Board of Education for the School District of Philadelphia is composed of nine members who are appointed by the mayor and the city council. The Board holds regularly scheduled Action Meetings that are open for the public to attend and participate in. These meetings are important opportunities to make your voice heard!
