What: Hundreds of education advocates will converge on Philadelphia City Council to deliver THOUSANDS of letters from public school students, urging Council to support funding for Philadelphia schools.

Who: Ad Hoc Parents Group to Save our Schools supported by Public Citizens for Children and Youth and Education Voters of Pennsylvania

Why: The Philadelphia school district faces a $304 million dollar budget deficit. The district is reaching out to the city for $60 million to help prevent catastrophic cuts. Without it the district will be forced to implement its “doomsday budget” which would cost nearly 3,800 teachers, aids, counselors and others their jobs, and deprive children of crucial programs including, art, music, athletics, etc.
