Kudos to the Radnor students helping their fellow students in Philadelphia who are suffering from state cuts to their school (“What a school can be,” Jan. 12). With at least $200,000 more invested in every classroom, it’s no surprise that Radnor’s academic results are stellar. Tragically, most school districts with the highest-need children are so cash-starved that they can no longer afford the basics, let alone frills.
Can it be that the only option for our struggling districts is to depend on the kindness of others? A better idea would be for Gov. Corbett and state lawmakers to follow the students’ example and fund a quality public education system for each and every student in Pennsylvania.
