Child HealthWatch HelpLine

IMPORTANT NOTE: Starting April 17, 2023, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) will be deciding who qualifies for CHIP. This will include both new applications and renewals. This means that the current 130,000 CHIP families and all new enrollees will need to go through DHS instead of their CHIP health insurance plan to determine eligibility. Click here for additional information.

The Child HealthWatch HelpLine assists families in finding health insurance for their children.  We help with applications for public health insurance, either Medical Assistance (MA) or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and to resolve enrollment problems. This service is free and is available in any language.

Child HealthWatch HelpLine staff also helps families find health care services such as primary care, dental, vision, and behavioral health care that they can access with or without insurance.

Call the Child HealthWatch HelpLine at 215-563-5848 – extension 171 for English, and extension 271 for Spanish.
